I have recently retired from the oil and gas industry. I am not finished with being a productive and an active member of society.
When I retired, I wondered what is there for me to do. I want to have the feeling of being productive and have the ability to do whatever I want to, when I want to.
That for me is living my retired life.
When we were young, we looked upon the older generation as the wise and experienced. Well, today I am part of that older generation, I have many life experiences I can share and hopefully help people so they can benefit from my wisdom.
That is what led me to exploring the best way how to make money online and lead that productive life. You set your own schedule. That means you work when you want to and play when you want to.
This type of work is centered around things I have a passion for and this makes it fun verse just work.
That is what we will discuss in this article today.
How can you choose the business that is right for you and avoid scams, how you can leverage of your knowledge base to help others, and you will learn what I am doing with my time to stay productive.
It has been proven that staying productive and keeping your mind sharp has many positive health benefits.

Aren’t theses all just scams?
Yes, some are just scams and all they want is your money.
What is a scam?
This is the definition, “is an attempt to defraud a person or group after first gaining their confidence, used in the classical sense of trust”.
When the internet first took off, some people prayed off the inexperience of others to entice them to pay money for something that was just simply a scam or racket.
Today, there are added securities and ways to avoid these scams; and a way to work with the internet in a legitimate, safe manner.
Do your research and do not jump at the first shiny object you see.
If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
There are a lot of online platforms and systems that have hidden cost and they will try to get you in at a low or no cost knowing they will get more money once your in. Avoid these scams because they will drain your bank account.
A legitimate online platform will have many investors and customers; and they will have a track record you can do your research on. Do not ignore customer feedback or comments as they will give you invaluable insight into an organization to see if it is a fit for you.
Make sure the platform you pick has 24/7 help and can give you step by step training as you learn.
By all means, make sure the platform you choose does not have hidden or additional cost associated with their system.
Know what you are getting into up front.
Just use your life experiences and common sense when looking at making money online. If someone offers you to make $10,000 per month online with minimal work, it’s probably a scam. Get rich quick is a scam!
Everyone with experience knows that all good things come with hard work. You get out what you put in!
You’ve got the knowledge, now sell it!
Here we are, including myself, with gray hair and maturity. We are a wealth of experiences and knowledge.
Why not sell that knowledge and leverage those experiences.
With the upward trend of homeschooling, did you know you can become an online tutor? This is absolutely taking off online.
What is a better way to sell your knowledge and education?
All you have to do is be able to convey key information to students through cyberspace instead of face to face. You would be potentially teaching kids of all ages, but usually the fourth grade through college level.
You can do a google search for “online tutoring” and it will guide you to articles that will assist you in become an online tutor.
Write an eBook and share you life experiences and knowledge in this amazing way. Amazon loves to sell eBooks.
The best thing about eBooks is it does not have to be a lengthy book. It can only be a small as 20 or so pages as long as it is filled with your knowledge or experiences that people are searching for online.
You would be surprised what you know that people are looking for. It could be a how to or did you know type of book. Share you traveling or hobby experiences. People want to know!

Did you know that you are an expert? I bet there is something you know a lot about, so share it!
Put your knowledge to work with About.com as they are always looking for expert writers in various fields. You can make a decent income doing this.
Are you into photography? Sell that knowledge and experience.
You can sell stock photos to companies like Shutterstock.com. You can earn a percentage or set amount for each photo that you sell.
This is a great way retires can make extra cash using their hobby and strengthening their skills as a photographer.
Are you interested into politics? A lot of people are seeking information on grassroots campaigns. Many retirees have joined online companies such as NextWave Advocacy looking to get more involved and are making good cash to do so.
Online Blogging, Is that for you?
Did you know that there are 3.5 Billion people on the internet today! What an audience!
Online blogging is more popular today than ever. Blogging can be a great way to share your knowledge and experiences on things you have a passion around.
Most of us have worked in the corporate world and have never followed our passion. Online blogging can let you do just that and follow that passion while share your knowledge.
Also, it is an excellent way to learn something new and share that.
If blogging is not appealing to you, did you know you can be an online assistant or ghost writer for a blogger? This is a great way to stay anonymous and make a good income stream in doing so.
Many online bloggers will reach a point where they just can not do all the work themselves. This drives them to outsource work such as administrative work or writing their posts for publication.
The best part of doing this type of work is you set your own schedule. This will leave you time for the grandchildren or hobbies of your choice.
How I make my money online.
Many of you like me are part of the Baby Boomer generation. I have written articles on how this generation is reshaping how we think about retirement (you can read that by pressing here).
I am the first one to tell you that I never thought I would be writing online, but here I am. I have found this very rewarding and it helps me achieve my goals to stay productive and socially active as I grow old.

Well, if someone who retired from the oil industry is concerned about their retirement life, we all should be.
I appreciate this article very much, because as I’ve gotten “over the hill,” myself, retirement is not something I can just assume will take care of itself, someday. I don’t want to sacrifice my present for the future, but at the same time, I have to be planning and saving, now.
But I like how you take the approach that it isn’t just about saving; it can also include proactively making money outside of being currently employed. It’s usually easier to make an extra $100 than it is to save an extra $100, and you’re showing several options as to how to go about doing that.
This inspired me and made me feel better about my future, and for that, I thank you.
Like I said, we baby boomers are redefining what retirement looks like. For me, it is not sitting around and watching the world go around. It is being involved and productive.
I don’t want my retired life to be equal to my employed life, I want it to be better. That has motivated me to do what I do today.

I have been preparing for retirement for years and now trying to build an online business. This is something I always want to do and did a lot of research. Having retired a couple of years ago, I looked for something to keep me busy and make a few bucks on the side. Writing on my website, helping others with my knowledge is very satisfying. The Wealthy Affiliate training, if followed, will help you build a website that will return your investment back within a year.
I like the idea of not having to go to a work place for a paycheck, the harder I work the more income I can produce by writing more articles. I can write any time of the day and work anywhere I can get on the internet.
